The Epson WorkForce WF-3520DWF is a color ink printer with a maximal resolution of up to 5760×1440 dpi and is fully supported by Linux. The printer can be connected via USB (USB ID 04b8:0899), via WiFi, or via Ethernet. If the printer is not automatically recognized by the available drivers of the used Linux distribution drivers for the scanner and the printer can be downloaded from the Epson homepage. To find the drivers it is necessary to search on the Linux driver search page of Epson for the model “WF-3520″.
The printer is accessed by the epson-201212w driver, which is available from Openprinting.org in RPM or DEB file format.
The scanner unit of the AiO can be accessed with the program iscan that is provided together with the Epson drivers. This program is a quite simple scanner frontend, which is only compatible with Epson scanners. To use the iscan software the files iscan-data, iscan, and iscan-network-nt have to be installed, i.e. under Ubuntu by the commands
sudo dpkg -i iscan-data_1.22.0-1_all.deb iscan_2.29.1-5~usb0.1.ltdl7_amd64.deb iscan-network-nt_1.1.0-2_amd64.deb
Alternatively (and recommended) the scanner can be accessed by the SANE software, which fully supports the WF-3520DWF. It is possible to use the scanner with the XSane software or with Gimp. To allow netwokr access to the scanner the IP address of the scanner has to be added to the file /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf. One has to add the following line to the file:
net <Hostname oder IP>
Afterwards, the scanner can be accessed by iscan and by Xsane.
