Review of Linux Compatibility

The PCTV Pico Stick 74e has a DVB-T Tuner and is supported by Linux at least since Ubuntu 12.04. The kernel module dvb_as102 is used to operate the stick, which has the USB ID 2013:0246

Bus 001 Device 007: ID 2013:0246 Unknown (Pinnacle?) PCTV 74E

Two firmware files are necessary to use the stick. These files are normally not part of the distribution (e.g. under Ubuntu) and have to be downloaded separately and copied to /lib/firmware:

wget http://www.kernellabs.com/firmware/as102/as102_data1_st.hex
wget http://www.kernellabs.com/firmware/as102/as102_data2_st.hex
cp as102_data1_st.hex /lib/firmware
cp as102_data2_st.hex /lib/firmware

If the firmware files are located at /lib/firmware the driver for the PCTV Pico Stick loads automatically if the stick is plugged in:

usb 2-2.4.4: new high-speed USB device number 42 using ehci-pci
as10x_usb: device has been detected
DVB: registering new adapter (PCTV Systems picoStick (74e))
usb 2-2.4.4: DVB: registering adapter 0 frontend 0 (PCTV Systems picoStick (74e))...
as10x_usb: firmware: as102_data1_st.hex loaded with success
as10x_usb: firmware: as102_data2_st.hex loaded with success
input: IR-receiver inside an USB DVB receiver as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb1/1-4/input/input21
