Review of Linux Compatibility
The Delock 89003 is a PCI card that provides two external serial ports. The card is fully and automatically supported by Linux, at least since Ubuntu 8.04 and is identified by the kernel in the following way:
05:00.0 Communication controller: NetMos Technology PCI 9845 Multi-I/O Controller (rev 01) Subsystem: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic Unknown device 0014 Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 19 I/O ports at dc00 [size=8] I/O ports at d880 [size=8] I/O ports at d800 [size=8] I/O ports at d480 [size=8] I/O ports at d400 [size=8] I/O ports at d080 [size=16]
The Linux system creates two additional devices, i.e. /dev/ttyS1 and /dev/ttyS2 that can be used to access devices connected to the serial ports.
Delock also provides Linux driver for download (see http://www.delock.de/service/support/driver/89003.html). However, the installation of these drivers is normally not necessary, because they are already part of the standard Linux kernels.
