Review of Linux Compatibility

The TP-Link TL-WN310G is a PCMCIA card to equip a laptop with a WiFi connection according to 802.11g standard. The card bases on the Atheros AR5007G chipset and has the PCI ID 168c:001d:

02:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5007G Wireless Network Adapter [168c:001d] (rev 01)

The card is fully supported by Linux and uses the kernel module ath5k. This module is loaded automatically if the PCMCIA card is plugged into the slot:

device-mapper: multipath round-robin: version 1.0.0 loaded
ath5k 0000:04:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0002)
ath5k 0000:04:00.0: PCI INT A -> Link[LNKB] -> GSI 11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11
ath5k 0000:04:00.0: registered as 'phy0'
ath: EEPROM regdomain: 0x809c
ath: EEPROM indicates we should expect a country code
ath: doing EEPROM country->regdmn map search
ath: country maps to regdmn code: 0x52
ath: Country alpha2 being used: CN
ath: Regpair used: 0x52
