Review of Linux Compatibility

The Bresser Junior DM400 is a digital microscope for children and invites them experiment. It is connected per USB and is recognized under Linux as a USB webcam. The included 1.3 Megapixel camera (640×480 pixel) can be used to record pictures and videos with 20x, 80x, and 350x magnification.

The microscope has the USB ID 1871:0101

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 1871:0101 Aveo Technology Corp.

and is fully supported by the Linux kernel module uvcvideo. Linux also supports the recording button at the microscope’s housing to take a picture.

Recordings with the microscope can be carried out with the usual Linux webcam software like Cheese or guvcview.
