Review of Linux Compatibility

The Zotac ZBOX VD01 is a Mini-PC, which uses a VIA CPU. The installation of Ubuntu (installations has to be performed with a USB stick) has several obstacles. During the installation several distributions have problems with the graphics support. Hence, the screen can stay black during the installation. In this case a text base installation should be preferred, e.g. by using the Ubuntu alternate version.

Additionally, it is necessary to use tha latest Bios version because especially some flaws regarding the Linux support were fixed (e.g. the update to 2K111222). The latest Bios can be downloaded at the Zotac homepage: http://www.zotacusa.com/downloads?cat=284#downloadscontent

Latest grpahic drivers for linux can be found at http://www.zotac.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=284&limit=10&limitstart=0&order=date&dir=DESC&Itemid=100032&lang=nl.
