Review of Linux Compatibility

The Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1200 (Model 71xxx and 22xxx) is a PCI-Express card and is equipped with a DVB-T and analog tuner. The card ispartly supported since Ubuntu 11.04.
Warning: the DVB-T tuner of the card is not supported yet (analog to the HVR-1700)!

The card needs the firmware files dvb-fe-tda10048-1.0.fw, v4l-cx23885-avcore-01.fw and v4l-cx23885-enc.fw, which can be installed in Ubuntu with the package “linux-firmware-nonfree”:

sudo apt-get install linux-firmware-nonfree

Alternativley the firmware can be downloaded at http://steventoth.net/linux/hvr1200/.
