Review of Linux Compatibility

The Hauppauge WinTV Nova-HD-S2 PCI card is supported since Ubuntu 11.04 and is recognized as “WinTV-HVR4000(Lite)”. The card has the model number 69100 and receives DVB-S as well as DVB-S2 with its tuner.

The Nova-HD-S2 needs the firmware file dvb-fe-cx24116.fw, which is availabe in Ubuntu in the package “linux-firmware-nonfree”. The package can be installed in the following way:

sudo apt-get install linux-firmware-nonfree

Afterwards the card gets recognized by the kernel:
