Recensione di Compatibilità con Linux

The Acer Aspire One 756 is a 11.6 inch laptop. It is supported by Ubuntu since version 12.04. If the system does not boot the installation medium (USB or DVD drive) an update of the BIOS is necessary. At least BIOS version 1.09 is needed in this case.

Touchpad

The touchpad is fully supported since Ubuntu 14.04, but simulates a one-button mouse. If middle and right click should be enabled, the following configuration has to be added to the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf:

Section "InputClass"
  Identifier "Default clickpad buttons"
  MatchDriver "synaptics"
  Option "SoftButtonAreas" "60% 100% 80% 100% 40% 59% 80% 100%"
EndSection

This way the bottom area of the touchpad emulates all three mouse buttons.

Card Reader

The included card reader does not work automatically. The following configuration has to be added to /etc/rc.local to use the card reader:

# Disable ASPM L1 on the PCIe bus channel used by wired ethernet and card reader.
setpci -s 00:1c.2 0x50.B=0x41

This enables the card reader during the boot phase.

Display

Changing the brightness of the display is not supported automatically. However, this can be enabled by adding the following option to grub:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor"

Afterwards, the command

sudo update-grub

enables the new configuration, which is used after reboot. By default, the display has maximum brightness. The brightness can be reduced by the following command:

echo 500 > /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness

If the ideal standard value has been found, it can also be added to /etc/rc.local to be used at each boot:

# Make the display darker
echo 500 > /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness
