The Gigabyte GC-WB300D is a PCI Express card that proveds WiFi connection as well as Bluetooth 4.0 connection. It additionally is equipped with an internal USB port. The card exists in four versions (rev. 1.0 main1, rev. 1.0 main2, rev. 1.1 main1, rev. 1.1 main2) that all base on the same chipset and are fully supported by Linux.


The WiFi Chipsatz of the GC-WB300D bases on the Atheros AR9462, which is fully supported by the Linux kernel module ath9k. The WiFi card has the PCI-ID 168c:0034

      I am not sure if I fully understand your question: We do not sell the hardware by ourselves, instead you buy the hardware from one of our partners (mostly Amazon). Therefore, you have to decide if it is OK for you to buy from Amazon. Unfortunately, Amazon currently does not have the GC-WB300D on stock.

      From a technical standpoint this hardware has good Linux support and therefore is OK to be bought for a Linux system.

      The installation of the kernel modules depends on the distribution that is used.

      The MadWifi modules can be installed and activate under Ubuntu by the restricted-manager (i.e. jockey). This should be the easiest way:


      Alternatively, the module ath9k can be installed from source. First of all, it is necessary to have the compiler and kernel-headers in place:

      sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-generic

      The code of the kernel modules can be downloaded at
      The downloaded package can be unpacked and installed by:

      tar xf
      ./scripts/driver-select ath9k
      sudo make install
      sudo make unload

      The driver is be available after a restart of the system. However, this installation evades the package management system. Therefore, the driver has to be recompiled each time the kernel was updated.
