Review of Linux Compatibility

The Epson Perfection V600 (model identification B11B194011) is a USB scanner with the USB ID 04b8:0137:

Bus 004 Device 002: ID 04b8:0137 Seiko Epson Corp. ES-D200 [GT-S50]

or eventually shown as

Bus 001 Device 007: ID 04b8:0137 Seiko Epson Corp.

The scanner reads 25 pages per minute in its highest resolution (600dpi) while scanning front and rear page simultaneously. The atomatic paper feeder can store up to 75 pages.

The scanner is fully supported by Linux an can also be used together with SANE.
To access the Epson WorkForce Pro GT-S50 under Linux, the corresponding Linux scanner driver have to be downloaded from Epson. These files install the scan program iScan and also include the plugin file esci-interpreter-gt-s80, which enables the use of the scanner with SANE, the XSANE GUI and the command line.

The scanner can also be used with the generic SANE driver, but does only provide limited set of features in this case. Furthermore, the GT-S50 can be accessed under Linux by the commercially available Linux drivers from Vuescan.
