Review of Linux Compatibility
The Hauppauge DVB-T card is equipped with two Microtune MT2060 tuners and therefore allows parallel receiving of two different DVB-T bouquets with one attached antenna. The model number 99xxx of the PCI card is supported since Linux kernel 2.6.19 and uses the kernel module dvb_usb_dib0700.
The card is automatically initialized during booting by the kernel (Ubuntu 10.4, Kernel 2.6.38) in the following way:
[ 18.482739] dib0700: loaded with support for 15 different device-types [ 18.482894] dvb-usb: found a 'Hauppauge Nova-T 500 Dual DVB-T' in cold state, will try to load a firmware [ 18.483681] lirc_dev: IR Remote Control driver registered, major 250 [ 18.485284] IR LIRC bridge handler initialized ... Warning: Hauppuage uses the same naming and packaging for different versions of this card. Only one of these versions is equipped with one coaxial connector. The other model equipped with two coaxial connectors might not be supported by Linux. To be sure that the card is supported it should be made sure that the one-coaxial-connector version is used.
The DVB-T card is also equipped with a Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) for both tuners in case of bad Signal-to-Noise ratio. The LNA has to be activated by hand. This is done while the loading of the module by adding the following option:
options dvb_usb_dib0700 force_lna_activation=1
These additional options are added to the file /etc/modprobe.d/options.conf in Ubuntu. Other distributions might store these options in a different file, e.g. /etc/modprobe.d/options.
