Revisión de Compatibilidad con Linux
The Canon i-Sensys LBP6200d is a monochrome laser printer with USB connection. The printer is supported under Linux, however several configuration steps are necessary. Therefore, the use of this printer is not recommended for Linux beginners.
The Canon printer uses the Canon Advanced Printing Technology (CAPT) protocol and needs closed-source drivers. This Linux driver available for download at the Canon homepage. The LBP6200d is supported since version 2.4 of this driver and hence needs at least Ubuntu 12.04.
After downloading the driver the included .deb files
have to be installed. Afterwards, the configuration steps as explained in the installation manual have to be executed. However, under Ubuntu one has to deviate from the commands given in the installation manual and has to use
sudo /usr/sbin/lpadmin -p LBP5000 -m CNCUPSLBP5000CAPTK.ppd -v ccp://localhost:59787 -E
with the port nuber 59787, and not as given in the manual
Furthermore, on has to remove the kernel module usblp from the module blacklist. Otherwise, no device file /dev/usb/lp0 will be created. This means that the file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-cups-usblp.conf has to be changed and a existing command to blacklist usblp has to be commented out:
# cups talks to the raw USB devices, so we need to blacklist usblp to avoid # grabbing them # blacklist usblp
