Review of Linux Compatibility

The Epson Perfection V500 (model identification B11B189032) is a USB scanner with the maximal resolution of 6400dpi and the USB ID 04b8:0130:

The scanner is fully supported by Linux and can also be used together with SANE.

To access the Epson Perfection V500 under Linux the Linux scanner drivers have to be downloaded from the Epson homepage heruntergeladen werden. The files install the scan program iScan and also includes the plugin file iscan-plugin-gt-x770, which enables to use the scanner with SANE, the XSANE GUI and from the command line.

The scanner can also be used with the generic SANE driver, but will support only a limited set of features in this case. Alternatively, the scanner can also be used with the commercially available drivers of VueScan.

    no 48-bit scanning and/or advanced features such as dust removal found in the iscan utility provided by Epson. Basic 24-bit scanning works, including negative and positive scanning. High-resolution scans limited to small selection regions.
