    Requires Steam to be running in order to function. This is true for every OS, including Windows and OSX. It works as intended.

      For Linux there is a Open Source Driver and Config Tool for the Steam Controller. You can find it on Github: sc-controller. However, for firmware updates you are still forced to use the Steam client.
