The Seagate ST1000DX001 is a Solid State Hybrid Drive (SSHD). It can show I/O or file system errors during the boot sequence.
This problem can be solved by deactivating the Native Command Queuing (NCQ) via the following kernel parameter:
The “1” has to replaced by the SATA channel number to which the ST1000DX001 was connected.
Although the drive itself and the controller support NCQ, the SSD part of the drive does not need this software based driver because caching and copying of often used files is already supported by the firmware of the ST1000DX001.
