Review of Linux Compatibility

The Canon LiDE 120 is a USB scanner with USB ID 04a9:190e

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 04a9:190e Canon, Inc.

Although the scanner is recognized by the kernel the following way:

usb 1-3: new high-speed USB device number 4 using ehci-pci
usb 1-3: New USB device found, idVendor=04a9, idProduct=190e
usb 1-3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
usb 1-3: Product: CanoScan
usb 1-3: Manufacturer: Canon

it is not supported by the SANE backend (see It is therefore not recommended to use this scanner under Linux.

Alternatively, commercial drivers are provided for the scanner by VueScan.
