Review of Linux Compatibility

The Rosewill AC1200UBE is a USB WiFi adapter with USB ID 0bda:0812

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0bda:8812 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.

The stick supports WiFi connections according to IEEE 802.11ac standard an bases on the Realtek RTL8812AU chipset. This chipset is supported by the kernel driver “8812au” since Linux kernel version 3.18.5.
If such a kernel version is used the stick is automatically recognized and fully supported by the Linux kernel:

Afterwards, the file needs to be unzipped:

cd rtl8812au-master

Power saving should be disabled for this stick, i.e. edit the file rtl8812au-master/Makefile and replace CONFIG_POWER_SAVING = y with CONFIG_POWER_SAVING = n .
Afterwards, compile and install the kernel module:

insmod 8812au.ko
mkdir /lib64/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/rtlwifi/rtl8812au
cp 8812au.ko /lib64/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/rtlwifi/rtl8812au
depmod -a

The driver should be loaded after the next reboot.
