Review of Linux Compatibility

The Lenovo G50-45 uses a Realtek RTL8723BE chipset for its onboard WiFi. This chipset is supported since kernel version 3.17, which is not yet included in all latest Linux Distributions.

    That hasn’t been the problem. The issue has been two fold, the elan touchpad doesn’t for a right click and the video card is locked into an inferior resolution. It is slow as hell to respond. I’ve tested this on SuSE, OpenSUSE, Mint, Netrunner, Manjaro, Fedora, Slackware, and two or three other versions that skip my mind right now… kde systemd redux.

      Regarding your graphics card problem: the lspci output shown above shows the following for the graphic chipset:

      01:00.0 Display controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Device 666f

      The ID 666f suggests that the graphic chipset is a AMD Radeon HD 8500M (see AMD vendor id list).

      This graphic chipset should be supported by the AMD Catalyst Linux driver. Did you try this one already?
