Review of Linux Compatibility

The Delock 62121 is an adapter which provides an Gigabit-Ethernet connection at an USB 3.0 port. The adapter has the USB ID 0b95:1790

Bus 009 Device 002: ID 0b95:1790 ASIX Electronics Corp.

and uses the same hardware as the Digitus 3023, i.e. the Delock 62121 bases on the AX88179 chipset, for which Linux drivers are provided by the manufactuer for download.

If the adapter is not automatically recognized by the kernel when plugged in this driver has to be downloaded and compiled: http://www.asix.com.tw/FrootAttach/driver/AX88179_178A_LINUX_DRIVER_v1.3.0_SOURCE.tar.bz2

Under Ubuntu, first the kernel headers need to be installed:

apt-get install linux-headers-generic

After unpacking of the Linux driver package, the driver needs to be compiled and installed on the Linux system:

make
make install
