Review of Linux Compatibility

The Flirc USB dongle is an infrared receiver which is fully usable under Linux. The device has the USB ID 20a0:0001 and is identified by the kernel in the following way:

Bus 005 Device 003: ID 20a0:0001 Clay Logic

The receiver can be trained to create keyboard events (i.e. simulate the pressing of keys or combination of keys like Shift, Ctrl, Alt) for infrared signals it receives from a infrared remote. A configuration software for the device is provided by the supplier and can be downloaded from http://flirc.tv/downloads_linux/ (.deb files and .rpm files available for differen Linux distributions).

The FLIRC dongle can be programmed and run under Linux (e.g. Ubuntu 13.04).
