Review of Linux Compatibility

The Avermedia C029 DVD EZMaker 7 is a analog video capture device for USB. It bases on the Conexant CX23102 chipset and has the USB ID 07ca:c039:

Bus 001 Device 012: ID 07ca:c039 AVerMedia Technologies, Inc.

A Linux driver is provided by Avermedia for download. However, even if this driver is installed it was so far not possible to use the device, since it does not create a /dev/video device. Even though the kernel logs look promising:

usb 1-2: new high-speed USB device number 5 using ehci_hcd
Linux video capture interface: v2.00
cx231xx v1.0.28 driver loaded.

the device is currently not usable under Linux.
