Review of Linux Compatibility

The Logitech G600 is a wired gaming mouse, which is equipped with 20 configurable buttons. The mouse has the USB ID:

Bus 002 Device 006: ID 046d:c24a Logitech, Inc.

The G600 is automatically recognized under Linux by the X-Server:

Virtual core pointer id=2	[master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4	[slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Logitech Gaming Mouse G600 id=8	[slave pointer (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3	[master keyboard (2)]
↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5	[slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Logitech Gaming Mouse G600 id=9	[slave keyboard (3)]

However, the additional buttons are not automatically configured with functionality. Instead, the buttons create “events” that have to be configured manually. An instruction for this configuration can be found at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/All_Mouse_Buttons_Working.

The X server recognizes erkennt and supports the mouse automatically:
