Review of Linux Compatibility

The Gembird CAM66U is a USB webcam, which is shipped in at least two different version. The versions have different USB-IDs:

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 09da:021f A4 Tech Co., Ltd
Bus 002 Device 006: ID 18ec:3299 Arkmicro Technologies Inc.

The versions with USB ID 18ec:3299 is automatically supported under Linux (e.g. since Ubuntu 12.10) by the uvcvideo kernel module:

uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device USB2.0 PC CAMERA (18ec:3299)
uvcvideo: UVC non compliance - GET_DEF(PROBE) not supported. Enabling workaround.
input: USB2.0 PC CAMERA as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.0/usb1/1-1/1-1.5/1-1.5:1.0/input/input17
usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo
USB Video Class driver (1.1.1)

There is no information available regarding the Linux compatibility of the seconf version of the Gembird CAM66U (USB ID 09da:021f). But it seems that this version is not sold any longer.
