Review of Linux Compatibility

The ATX mainboard GA-990XA-UD3 from Gigabyte is fully supported under Linux. Problems with the on-board Gigabit Ethernet were resolved since kernel version 3.1.0.

If USB mouse and keyboard do not work under Linux it might be necessary to change an UEFI setting. In this case switch under “Peripherals” the value of ”IOMMU-Controller” from “disabled” to “enabled”.

Gigabit Ethernet

The on-board Gigabit Ethernet bases on the RTL8111/8168B chipset:

The was a driver problem with this chipset under kernel version 3.0. However, the problems in the r8169 were resolved in the kernel version 3.1 (see bug report).
