Review of Linux Compatibility

The Sitecom WLA-6100 is a WiFi USB stick for wireless connections according to IEEE 802.11n standard. It has the USB ID 0df6:006e:

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0df6:006b Sitecom Europe B.V.

The WLA-6100 bases on the Ralink RT3573 chipset. Although a patch for the Linux Kernel 3.12 is available, which provides experimental support for the chipset, this driver does not load for the WLA-6100.

Instead, one has to use the driver which is provided by Ralink for download at This driver needs to be unpacked. Afterwads, it can be compiled and installed by hand:

sudo make clean
sudo make
sudo make install

These commands compile and install the kernel module rt3573sta, which afterwards can be loaded by:

sudo modprobe rt3573sta
