Review of Linux Compatibility

The Technotrend S-2300 Premium FF ist a Full-Featured DVB-S card, i.e. the card is equipped with an MPEG hardware dekoder.

The card is also usable under Linux (at least since kernel version 3.5.0), but needs additional firmware:

dvb-ttpci: could not load firmware, file not found: dvb-ttpci-01.fw
dvb-ttpci: usually this should be in /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware or /lib/firmware
dvb-ttpci: and can be downloaded from

The firmware file has to be copied to /lib/firmware and can be downloaded from the following URL:

cd /lib/firmware/
sudo wget
sudo ln -s /lib/firmware/dvb-ttpci-01.fw-2622 /lib/firmware/dvb-ttpci-01.fw

The driver will be loaded automatically after a reboot of the Linux system:

shutdown -r now

The successful loading of the driver is shown in the kernel logs in the following way:

DVB: registering new adapter (Technotrend/Hauppauge WinTV Nexus-S rev2.3)
dvb-ttpci: gpioirq unknown type=0 len=0
dvb-ttpci: info @ card 0: firm f0240009, rtsl b0250018, vid 71010068, app 80002622
