Review of Linux Compatibility

The Brother P-touch (PT-1230PC) is a label maker, which is connected to the PC via USB. The device has the USB ID 04f9:202c

The PT-1230PC has to be filled with 6 AAA batteries. In order to print from Linux itis necessary that the switch on the housing is set to “E” and not “EL”.

After connecting the PT-1230PC to the PC the device needs to be configured as CUPS Printer (by using the P-Touch driver). One has to select “Brother PT1230PC” as model and “GENERIC TEXT PRINTER” in CUPS.

In order to print labels one can use the program B-Label. This program needs the libraries:

sudo apt-get install libgd-gd2-perl libgtk2-gladexml-perl
