Review of Linux Compatibility

The Linksys AE6000 (also avilable under the name AC580 dual band) is a mini USB adapter with Cisco logo. The stick supports WiFi according to 802.11ac standard and has the USB ID 13b1:003e

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 13b1:003e Linksys

It bases on the MediaTek MT7610U chipset.

The stick is recognized by the kernel if plugged in:

usb 1-2: new high-speed USB device number 2 using ehci-omap
usb 1-2: New USB device found, idVendor=13b1, idProduct=003e
usb 1-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
usb 1-2: Product: Linksys AE6000
usb 1-2: Manufacturer: Cisco
usb 1-2: SerialNumber: 0009

However, the automatically loaded kernel module mt7650u_sta does not support the stick although no error message is visible in the kernel logs.
