Review of Linux Compatibility

The All-in-One device HP LaserJet Pro M1217nfw is a laser printer with integrated scanner, Ethernet connection, WiFi, and Fax,. The Printer is supported under Linux by the HP Linux Imaging and Printing driver since version 3.10.2. The full functionality of the printer is supported under Debian, Ubuntu, RedHat and SuSE, other distributions can might provide only limited functionality. A detailed overview of functionality can be found at the HP Linux driver page.

The hplip driver can be downloaded at http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html, where also a detailed installation description is provided for the printer. Under Ubuntu this driver can be installed by the “Synaptic Package Manager”. The needed packages are hplip and hplip-cups.
