Review of Linux Compatibility
The Brother HL-2270DW is a laser duplex-printer that can be accessed via USB-, WiFi- (IEEE802.11 b/g) and Ethernet (10/100 Base TX). The Printer is fully supported under Linux, communication is possible via protocals like CUPS, LPD and LPRng.
The corresponding printer driver is provided by Brother. However, most Linux distributions (e.g. Ubuntu 12.04 LTS) is already equipped with printer drivers that are compatible with the HL-2250DN (like the HL-2170W), although not providing the HL-2250 driver itself. This bares the installation of the original Brother driver for the HL-2250DN-Treiber. Instead one can select the “Generic PCL 6/PCL XL Printer – CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.6″ driver, which fully supports the HL-2250DN.
The Linux driver for the HL-2250DN as well as the installation description is provided the the Brother homepage
