Review of Linux Compatibility

The Acer Aspire E1-531 is available in several versions. It can be equipped with the Intel Pentium Prozessor B950, B960, or B970 (2 MB L3 Cache, with 2.10, 2.20, or 2.30 GHz) or with the Intel Celeron Prozessor B820 or B815 (2 MB L3 Cache, with 1.70 or 1.6 GHz), respectively.
The 15,6 inch HD LCD TFT display has a resolution of 1366 x 768 Pixel and is equipped with a LED backlight. The Notebook can be equipped with up to 8 GB RAM and different types of harddisks (e.g. 320 GB, 500 GB, 640 GB, and 750 GB). The graphic chipset can be a Intel HD but also versions with NVidia GT 620M are available (be aware that there are currently no infomation about the Linux compatibility of the NVidia version).

The notebook is fully supported by Linux since at least kernel version 3.2.0-29 (e.g. since Ubuntu 10.04).

WiFi

The 802.11n WiFi chipset bases on the Broadcom BCM4313 and is accessed by the kernel module brcmsmac under Linux kernel 3.2 while Linux kernel 3.6 uses the module bcma for this chipset:
