The webcam is fully supported by the Linux UVC driver and the webcam is initialized by the kernel module uvcvideo as soon as the cam is plugged in:

The programm uvcdynctrl can be used to configure the webcam from the command prompt. For example the focus of the webcam can be set by the command

uvcdynctrl -s "Focus, Auto" 0

to set the focus to infinity. Akternatively the focus can be set to a certain value by

uvcdynctrl -s "Focus (absolute)" $focus

where $focus is a value from 0 to 40.
