Review of Linux Compatibility

The Brother HL-2130 laser printer is supported by Linux via LPR and CUPS. If the printer driver was not already part of the Linux distribution it can be downloaded from the Brother hompage: http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public_s/id/linux/en/download_prn.html#HL-2130.

The downloaded deb packages have to be installed in the following way:

sudo dpkg -i --force-all hl2130lpr-2.1.0-1.i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i --force-all cupswrapperHL2130-2.0.4-2.i386.deb

Afterwards the Ubuntu tool “Printer” lists the HL-2130 in its selection if a new CUPS printer has been added.
After installation of the printer the URL http://localhost:631/printers/Brother-HL-2130-series links to the CUPS configuration page of the HL-2130.

Works great on ubuntu. But how to update the firmware? If I go to the firmware update page in the webcontrol I need a file.
